Winter activities featured in the festival are snow carving, Yabuli alpine skiing, winter swimming in the Songhua River and the famous ice-lantern exhibition. However, the exhibitions open earlier and last longer, weather permitting. Officially, the festival begins on January 5th and lasts one month.
